Pre Workshop
Now that you have completed your CMI Registration, you must complete all of the following activities before you attend the workshop. Much of the content here is the necessary knowledge you will use both on the one day workshop and within your qualification assignment.
It is absolutely essential you complete these before the workshop. You will not have time on the morning of the workshop to complete this work. It is important to note that when you attend the workshop, if the workshop facilitator believes you have not completed all of the activities, you will be asked to leave the workshop and book on to a later date.
This is necessary as it will ensure everyone arrives with the same knowledge and understanding that will be used immediately in the first session.

Action One: Induction Joining Instructions and Handbook
You need to print off and fully read through the workshop Joining Instructions. It is essential that you bring a copy of these with you to the workshop as we will be working through the document on the day.

Read through and fully understand the assignment information for 5017V1 requirements included in these Joining Instructions. This must be done before attending the workshop. This will help you focus on the sessions which are directly linked to helping you complete the assignment. Make a note of any questions or queries that you can ask at the workshop.
You will also need to be familiar with the EMP Programme Handbook. In here you will find how to submit your assignment and the various policies, procedures and guidance around the CMI qualification. Failure to submit your assignment in the correct way will result in it being sent back to you or assessed as a Refer. Please read this before attending as it will be discussed at the workshop.
Action Two: A little bit of coaching theory
Please take a look at the following three videos. The content from the videos will be used in real life coaching sessions at the workshop so your understanding of these topics will be critical.

Action Three: Definition of Coaching
Research and identify a definition of coaching that you feel best sums up your view or approach to coaching. Print this in large font on a sheet of landscape A4 and bring along to the workshop. Make sure you also include the original author of the definition, not the web site you found your definition on.

Action Four: Potential people to coach
Identify at least two people that you will possibly coach following the workshop. Ideally, it should be individuals who would benefit from personal development or career coaching in improving their performance or behaviour. This is essential as this will form part of the assessment following the workshop. The identified coachees must not be selected on developing their knowledge on processes or procedures, that is typical for level 3 coaching. This is about management coaching and mentoring for the level 5 qualification so personal development coaching is expected rather than process or procedure.

Please remember, if the above have not been completed before attending the workshop, the facilitator has the right to reduse continuing with the programme and will ask you to re-apply for a later event.
